Freon™ 22 (R-22)

Freon™ 22 (R-22) is a hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) refrigerant that has been widely used for decades in air conditioning and medium- to low-temperature commercial refrigeration, including food service equipment, supermarket display cases, and ice machines.

Environmental & Handling Notes
R-22 is a legacy HCFC refrigerant subject to phase-down under the Montreal Protocol due to its ozone-depletion potential. It remains available for servicing existing equipment, but new equipment increasingly uses HFC or HFO-based alternatives such as Chemours' Opteon™ range.
