Opteon™ XL20 R454

Opteon™ XL20 (R-454C) is a non-ozone-depleting, low-GWP hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) based refrigerant developed as a long-term replacement for R-404A and R-22 in low- and medium-temperature commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. It closely matches the performance of the refrigerants it replaces while allowing a straightforward conversion from existing R-404A/R-22 system designs.

Opteon™ XL20 has a GWP of 148 — a roughly 96% reduction versus R-404A — placing it under the 150 GWP threshold set by EU F-Gas and Ecodesign regulations. It is miscible with POE lubricants and can be topped off after a leak repair. As an A2L refrigerant it is mildly flammable; follow local codes for charge limits and safe handling.
